About Faridabad
Faridabad is a bustling industrial town and one of the oldest towns in the state of Haryana. According to legend it was founded by the emperor Jahangirs treasurer Shaikh Farid in AD 1607. Another story goes that its founder was Baba Farid, an eminent Sufi saint. His mazar (grave) in the town is a popular pilgrimage spot for the local population. This beautiful ancient city folds within its confines numerous tourist spots. These enchanting places include the Badkhal Lake next to Badkhal village, 32 Km from Delhi. Formed in a scooped natural depression in the Aravalli hills, the lake is fed by rain water and a small rivulet. Another major attraction is the Magpie Tourist Complex popular for its lawns and an arch-shaped motel. Arravali Golf Club, Raja Nahar Singh Palace and Dabchick are the other famous tourist spots. In the end how can one forget the mesmerising Surajkund Crafts Mela held every year in the first two weeks of February.
